Located in Tacoma, this Russell Associate will be responsible for executing domestic and international equity and fixed income transactions for numerous Investment Managers, Transition Events, Fundings, Overlay Programs, and Execution Only Clients.  They will be trading on a daily basis and will be responsible for implementing advanced trading strategies that conform to Russell’s best execution guidelines.  In addition, this associate will be responsible for ensuring that trade order and execution information with Investment Managers, custodians, and market participants conforms to Russell’s straight through processing approach.  This position will operate with a great degree of autonomy and act as one of the leads in global execution and trading.  This person will continue to develop our best execution through demonstrable pre-trade and post-trade analysis, our trading capabilities in terms of systems and execution venues, and our overall product offering.  This includes development of the systems responsible for this analysis.

The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:

  • Communicate with numerous investment managers/portfolio managers/clients and execute program and/or single stock equity or fixed income transactions.  Establish and maintain best practice procedures to ensure trading strategies conform to Russell’s best execution guidelines.  Interface with a Portfolio Accounting Systems, Order Management Systems and operate trading technology that includes an advanced trade order management system and various market facing execution platforms
  • Effectively interact and communicate with members of Russell Implementation Services, External Investment Managers, Portfolio Mangers, and Market Participants to create informational efficiencies with regard to straight through processing requirements. Develop best practices that will provide for operational and trading scale within group.
  • Develop execution analysis and monitoring techniques and deliverables that satisfy the requirements of Russell’s Best Execution guideline.
  • Initially, the hours of this position are approximately 11p to 8a in order to trade Europe.

The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:

  • 5-10 years of equity trading experience in the brokerage/trading industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of International and Domestic OTC and Listed Market Equity place.
  • In depth International and Domestic Fixed Income knowledge.
  • Ability to understand and work with multiple complex trading systems configurations
  • Experience working with the institutional money manager community
  • Detail oriented & excellent problem solving skills
  • Series 7, 55, 66 licenses
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly proficient with multiple PC software including securities-related applications (portfolio accounting, trade order management, trading platforms, FIX connectivity, DTC/SWIFT messaging).
  • Ability and willingness to function in a stressful, technological environment with minimal instruction or supervision
  • Driven self starter looking to take on new responsibilities in a challenging environment
     
Degree/Education required:
Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related area required; advanced degree and CFA a plus.
